First, you need a great financial newspaper. But Im not talking about The Wall Street Journal aka WSJ
The WSJ is a great paper, as is the Financial Times (FT) and many others. But the problem is they often only cover the biggest and best news stories of the day. They have great coverage of the markets and touch on topics like commodities, options, and real estate.
The problem is they dont cover a lot of the smaller players out there.
Its not often youll find a front page story about a small company, or an analysis of the small cap markets.
But there is one newspaper Ive found that can and does cover smaller companies IBD Investors Business Daily.
Its a great paper and I read it every chance I can And I recommend you do too.

To uncover more ideas and find great penny stock ideas, and figure out which top penny stocks today you need to research, youve also got to go to the web.
There are tons of great websites publishing news and activities on penny stocks.
It takes time to dig out the best ones But Ive found a handful I really enjoy reading.

Yes, I know they are re-labeled Bloomberg Businessweek, and I know they are a major publishing company. But, they often have good articles about smaller companies. And if you dig enough, youll find some great ideas from some of the macro themes they talk about.
Another website to visit is http://www.otcmarkets.com/home
If you dont know about this site, go there now! The otc markets site is a great resource for information on smaller companies. Some have tons of information others have ZERO information but its a great place to start finding information and news about these emerging companies.
The third and final site Im going to give you is a bit unusual.
Take a look at http://www.prnewswire.com/search/advanced/
This is the PR Newswire website and the link will take you to their advanced search feature. Now heres where the magic happens.
Go to the search bar and type in the word OTC and hit the search button.
The PR newswire site will pull up the lasts month of press releases from companies on the OTC. These are important new items for many of the companies out there
Youll have to screen through a bunch and youll notice some companies put out press releases like theyre going out of style
But occasionally youll find something interesting about a company youve never heard of.
